Forever wishing I was a faster runner, with tanned legs. I started planning this run in late 2008, because I love trail running and I love this area.

I am responsible for overall coordination of this event. However, after the 2014 race, I realised I needed some serious help to efficiently run a growing event. Hence, the dream team you see assembled here. I am responsible primarily for staffing, overall planning, financials, as well as some media, sponsors, athlete and Ultra-Trail World Tour liaison. Race Director – Tim Day
Tim is a joint owner and Director of NZ Trail Runs Ltd along with Paul Charteris. They own the Tarawera Ultramarathon, the Tarawera Trail Marathon and 50K walk/run and NZ’s largest trail run, the Waitomo Trail Run.

He is the Race Director for these races. After participating in previous Tarawera Ultramarathons, Tim joined the NZ Trail Runs team in late 2013 to help organise the infamous 2014 Cyclone Lusi race. He hasn’t left since! Tim’s passion is for the outdoors and for adventure. He lives, works and plays in the amazing natural environments New Zealand has to offer. The places he likes to work, run, bike, hunt, fish, tramp & camp with friends and family are the places he professionally helps people to experience, to understand and to protect. Professionally, Tim has spent the past 25 years working with native and pest animals in New Zealand and international conservation projects. Most of his career has been in the commercial sector, where he’s been responsible for large teams and multi-million dollar budgets. In practice, he’s a fun-loving, yet organised and efficient company and project leader, designing world class race courses, overseeing the delivery of NZ Trail Runs event experiences, and providing expert advice. Tim prides himself on building relationships and collaborating with like-minded people. He’s currently exploring ways to better blend event-based recreation with meaningful conservation activities, for the long-term benefit of all.

sarah-r 2Athlete Liaison & Marketing – Sarah Rosenbaum 
Sarah is mainly involved in athlete and marketing support, community engagement and social media reporting. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Trier University and a Master’s degree in Tourism Management from Colorado State University. Growing up near the Black Forest in Germany, Sarah has always enjoyed the outdoors and knows best how to refuel after spending the day in the forests – eating a BIG Schnitzel! 🙂 Over the past few years, she has lived in the United States and has done voluntary work in various countries including Costa Rica and South Africa. As an ultra-runner, Sarah loves to explore new trails and to share her passion for this sport with everyone who is new to trail running. Whenever she’s not on the trails, you can find her at secret outdoor locations photographing dogs and horses. Sarah is very passionate about her pet photography business, called Picture Pawfect Pet Photography. Contact

 

Nick REader 26 June 2017 Mt Ruapehu Operations Manager – Nick Reader
Gidday… I am a bit of an endurance sports event junky in that I love the excitement and buzz created by a whole bunch of people gathering together in one place on one day to take on major challenges in the NZ outdoors.

My role as ‘Ops Manager’ is pretty general.  It includes organising the equipment (start lines, fencing, the humble portaloos etc) and the teams of people who set all of this up for race day. I also work closely with Tim Day helping to plan and deliver race day operations, including safety to ensure that we deliver events of exceptional quality and take good care of our staff and athletes.

It is a privilege to be part of the team helping Paul and Tim to deliver a bunch of national and world class events.

 


nic photoLogistics, Operations & Volunteers – Nic Muggeridge

Hi guys!  My job is mainly centred around event delivery, providing logistics, operational and procurement support.  This often means a lot of phone calls, emails, documentation and on-the-ground operational running around.  A big part of my role is pulling together our amazing team of volunteers for each event, plus our event registration, which is a huge but really awesome job as I get to be involved with a range of cool people who are as passionate about our events as we are.  My career background is in commercial, procurement, logistics and project management.  Outside of this role, I enjoy triathlon, trail running, mountain biking, am an active member of Rotorua Association of Triathletes (RATS) plus being a mum to two little ones. roigard Logistics and Traffic Management – Andrew Roigard
I feel proud to be part of the TUM team joining them in early 2015, looking after operational logistics and Traffic management. My event experience started in 1982 with the Auto Cycle Union of New Zealand know as Motorcycling New Zealand as an event safety steward. Then joining Epic Events in 2000 to become involved in the set up and management of off road motorcycling, running and mountain bike events. Based in Rotoura I currently contract to three other off road event companies throughout the north island being involved in safety and course management. My role with TUM is to manage and implement the traffic managements plans. Set up pack down event equipment and over see the smooth running of the event, making sure all competitors are safe in their vehicles and have an awesome experience on the day.
